our new normal

recently, there have been changes to both our living space, and the people who live there.

- penny now sleeps in a loft bed (she cannot remember the word "loft" and keeps calling it a "draft" bed.  she knows it's not right, and makes the most adorable face while she's saying it).  it is huge, it took hours to put together, and she LOVES it.  she asked to go home because she missed it so much.
- milo now eats as much food at each meal as i do.  he ate a hamburger for lunch.  he ate a hot dog for dinner.we have to tear everything into super tiny pieces, so it takes FOREVER for him to eat, but the speed and ferocity he puts into each bite is impressive.  also, he loves waffles
- milo crawls for real now.  he is superfast and unerringly heads for the most dangerous thing in the room.  yesterday, he entertained himself for a good 15 minutes by throwing a ball, laughing hysterically, racing over to it and throwing it again.  he was playing fetch with himself.  whatever, i got the laundry folded.
- penny has me drop her off for school right inside the main entrance.  i hardly know what to do with myself.  she's doing a great job of easing me into next year when i won't even go into the school with her at all, but i feel like i should be easing her into this stuff, not the other way around?  she's so proud, and is having so much fun being big.
- penny's got style.  she spent quite a while shopping for a dress that "goes like this" (diagonal line across her body from one shoulder to her hip).  i didn't know what that meant, she assured me it had short sleeves, and every dress i held up was wrong.  she has really amazing taste in clothes and shoes, and she TURNED DOWN TWO PAIRS OF SPARKLY PURPLE SHOES YESTERDAY.  i can't even believe this.  the ones she selected were really nice, but who is this child?

they're growing up, both of them!

Happy Mother's Day!

Besides being Mother's Day, today was Milo's Inside Out Day - the day he's been on the outside as long as he was on the inside; in his case 40 weeks and 5 days. I lifted some heavy things, drank some wine, and ate some sushi and soft cheeses, all things prohibited while pregnant, but downright encouraged on Mother's Day.
I was lucky enough to spend the day with my parents, my parents in law, and my brother in law and his family. It was a gorgeous day, and I made an effort to sit and relax.
