We survived two weeks without Alex! Penny was a huge help; she pushed the cart at the supermarket, she learned to pour her own juice and water, and she read herself to sleep a couple of nights.
We started reading the sixth Harry Potter book, and on Thursday I gave her the hardest choice of her week - a chapter, or Olympic gymnastics. She chose gymnastics, and we got to see Simone Biles compete.

After 12 long days, Alex came home!
We missed him terribly.
This weekend has been so hot, we have done our best to stay inside.
We start our days with nutritious breakfasts.  We went to see "The Secret Life of Pets", which was frankly, not great, and then we took Milo to the Transit Museum for the first time.
Milo loved driving the buses, and we all had a fun time!

Bedtime for Milo

Tonight, I read Milo "Caps for Sale" for the first time, and when we got to the page where it was revealed that monkeys had stolen the peddler's caps, he did a full on open mouthed with a hand in front because he could not believe it head turn. It was amazing. I try hard to remember that it's frequently his first time for lots of things.
After stories, we had been snuggling for a while when he suddenly popped his head up and said "ice cream?"
I like to call this video Bedtime Stalling (ineffective)

Tooth Watch 2016!

so far, penny still has all of her teeth.  she has been diligently wiggling the tooth in front of her shark tooth, and it's not really getting any looser at this point.  the other day, i casually mentioned that we have been spending so much time focused on that tooth, and i wondered what was going on on the top.  penny opened her mouth and stuck her teeth in my direction, and i tried - her top front tooth is TOTALLY wiggling.  right now, penny's teeth are in a race to exit her mouth.  alex left for an extended work trip yesterday, so we hope it will hang in there for two weeks.  we shall see!  go, teeth, go!
